Funding for technical theatre sparks excitement among young people in the community
The National Lottery Community Fund has donated nearly £20,000 to the community in Cambridgeshire to offer a specialised course for young people in technical theatre, covering lighting, sound, and event management.
The funding secured by Jack Hunt School provides hands-on experience each week, alternating between Jack Hunt School in Peterborough and the Young Technicians Academy in Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, for 25 young people.
Angela King, Curriculum Leader for Drama at Jack Hunt School, part of Peterborough Keys Academies Trust (PKAT) said: “I am very excited that we have been successful in our National Lottery community funding bid and that we will be working with the Young Technicians team. This funding will have a significant positive impact on the life chances of young people and their future careers.”
Dr Ian Young, CEO of Peterborough Keys Academies Trust (PKAT) said: “Through this program, students and young people of the community will gain valuable skills and knowledge that can support their GCSE and A-Level drama studies, as well as enhance performances both at school and within the wider community.”
